Coir Curling Unit
Coir curling unit consists of a set of machineries used to produce curled ropes out of coir fibre. Curled ropes are used in coir mattresses, sofas, couches and in automobile and locomotive seats.
Machinery Units
A Curling unit consists of the following machines:
a. Hackling machine
b. Curling machine
c. Winding device
Increasing the Production Capacity of Curling Unit:
The production capacity of the curling unit can be increased by adding curling machines to the existing unit. In addition, double shaft hackling machine should be used in curling units having more than 3 curling machines (> 1000 Kg production output / 8 hours), since single shaft hackling machine cannot produce more than 1000 kg output per 8 hours.
Single Shaft Hackling Machine:
 Hackling machine is used for fine cleaning and separation of fibre. Fibre bales are untied, sprayed with water and fed into the hackling machine. Beating principle is adapted for fibre cleaning and separation.
Based on the production requirements, two types of hackling machines are available namely
Single Shaft Hackling machine (production output: 1000 Kg fibre / 8 hours) and
Double Shaft Hackling machine (production output: 3000 Kg fibre / 8 hours)

Curling Machine:

Winding Device:
 Winding device is used to wind the curled rope into uniform predetermined size bundles. It is made of two separate assemblies – rewinding device and unwinding spool. It is available in two options – manual or motorized operation.
